Evening Rose is a trio of women who share a passion for tradional folk and celtic music.

Member Bios
Laura Elder Hometown: Lima, OH Early Musical Experience: My parents bought me an Allen organ and I took lessons on it from first through eighth grade. I played the clarinet in the school band from sixth through ninth grade. I took up guitar my sophomore year in high school. How I entered the "Folk Music Scene": I sold my guitar in 1991 for a mountain dulcimer. I purchased another guitar in 1994. How I met the other Evening Rose Members: I met Cindy in a folk group at church and met Kathy through dulcimer club. Job: Environmental Education teacher; church music director. Other interests: Storytelling, songwriting Instruments Played: Guitar, mountain dulcimer, pennywhistle, concertina, vocalist Family: Married with two sons and a daughter Words to live by: "Life is a learning adventure"
Kathy Smith Hometown: Lancaster, OH Early Musical Experience: I had a few piano lessons in third grade, then started clarinet in ninth grade. I picked up trumpet for marching band and saxophone for jazz band. How I entered the "Folk Music Scene": I taught myself a little guitar in 1990 and bought my first dulcimer in 1991. How I met the other Evening Rose Members: I met Laura and Cindy through Standing Stone Strings and Things dulcimer club. Job: Elementary music teacher, church children's choir director Other interests: Collectibles; family time Instruments Played: Hammered dulcimer, mountain dulcimer, pennywhistles, guitar, clarinet, saxophone, enough piano to fake it.... Family: Married with a daughter, son, and stepson
Cindy Wolfinger Hometown: Lakewood, OH Early Musical Experience: I played violin in fifth grade, sang in choir in junior high and high school, and played percussion in the high school marching band. How I entered the "Folk Music Scene": My brother sent me my first guitar while he was in the Army, stationed in Italy. I purchased my first dulcimer in 1991. How I met the other Evening Rose Members: I met Laura in a folk group at church and met Kathy through Standing Stone Strings and Things dulcimer club. Job: Manager of Independent Living Retirement Center; Dental Hygienist Other interests: Very involved with son's cross country team and 4-H club; gardening Instruments Played: Guitar, mandolin, bodhran, banjo, percussion, bowed psaltery Family: Married with one son
